Living in a country that’s largely situated on the Adriatic coast, I never feel the need to vacation anywhere else but Croatia. If you’ve followed my blog for years, you might have noticed I love to travel, but when it comes to summer vacations—it’s always in sunny Dalmatia. It never disappoints and I feel at home (because I am). Having such specific choices makes me miss out on all the beauty of the neighbouring Adriatic countries like Slovenia and their coast. Truth to be told, if it weren’t for the recent school trip I volunteered to go on, I don’t think I would ever visit that part of the world. Between taking care of 43 school kids and making sure they behave, us adults managed to have some peace time for ourselves and, like my previous school trip, these photos are those movements.
Although almost entirely in Croatia, Istrian peninsula spreads across two more countries, Slovenia and Italy. Among few coastal towns there, my favourite would definitely be Piran. I must say I didn’t expect to be as lovely, all pastel looking with rich medieval history based on salt trade. And if you love the red rooftops of Dubrovnik, Piran is for you. You can take some nice panoramic photos, overlooking the Croatian coast across Piran Bay (1st photo). I wish I could go back and document the town in different times of day. Direct, noon sunlight is always quite unflattering (in my opinion) for photos, but I managed to take a few snaps where it wasn’t as harsh looking. Oh, well.
